As a community of intentional disciples we long to be a center for mentoring and equipping for ministry. We long to reach out into a world that has lost meaning and focus by helping believers know Jesus intimately and preparing them to speak into the needs of their culture with the certain hope of the gospel. To do that we desire to be the following:
Gospel Saturated. We desire to be a church that is saturated by and driven by God’s call of grace in the gospel. Everything we do must be shaped by the gospel. That is, making known and living out the saving grace of God in Jesus, and letting it influence all we do. Our preaching, children’s ministry, worship, and teaching strives to awake a thirst for God and then drenchs with the goodness of God and invites all to feast on Him as their provision. We desire to be used of God in drawing all mankind to Him.
Missional. We desire to take this awakening of thirst for God beyond our walls in order to penetrate into our culture with this message of the grace of God. We desire to be missional, starting where we are in our neighbourhoods, but also going into the rest of our hurting world making a difference in our workplaces, schools and communities. We desire to be a church that sends its people into the community as a mission field, helping all people to come to know Jesus and change the world for His glory. Internationally, we desire to have a meaningful worldwide kingdom impact by sending gospel messengers into the neediest areas. Hopefully, many of these will have begun their training process at Crossroads (see “Training Centre” below).
Disciple-Making. We desire to be a church that is intentional about following Jesus in all areas of life. We desire to show in words and actions that following Jesus involves submission to him in all areas of life and that Jesus helps us in all areas of life. We desire to be a people who are known in the community to help others get through life problems. We desire to be accepting of hurting people, practical in helping, realistic in application, and passionately dedicated in action. We desire to be a place where our people are known in the community for helping others: Helping parents parent, helping students think clearly with a Christian mindset, helping couples improve their marriage, helping the grieving cope with loss, etc. We desire to do this authentically- helping only as those who have themselves been helped.
Training Centre. We desire to be a significant training centre. Through our process of discipleship we desire to identify leaders within the church and within the church equip them for ministry. We envision a process of mentoring that prepares and equips missionaries, elders, worship leaders, evangelists, preachers, teachers and interns. By this the church returns to its role as the primary preparation ground for ministry that is supplemented by the advanced training offered by Bible colleges and seminaries. We desire to be a training centre where people can come for internships/practicums from various schools (Christian and secular) and learn to bring Christ into the centre of their profession.
